Biomass Wood Pellets

A Biomass Boiler burns wood pellets, chips or logs, and is connected to the heating and hot water system of a building.

Main Benefits:

  • A cheaper heating fuel
  • Lower carbon option than fossil fuels
  • Financial support and incentives (Domestic & Commercial RHI)

About Biomass Boilers:

Biomass is essentially a form of wood-fuelled heating. Wood pellets, chips or logs are used to fuel a boiler which then in turn provides heat to a property. This is classed as a renewable technology as the fuel sources are renewable, unlike conventional gas or oil fired heating systems.

Biomass Boiler installations can range from small 6kW domestic systems to large 500kW + commercial systems. The principle is the same for both – providing a heat source from wood based fuel. The boilers generally require little routine maintenance other than keeping them clear of ash, however even then some boilers have automatic ash removal systems. The maintenance requirements can be advised individually on each installation.
