Powerwall enables you to store excess energy generated from solar panels to use at another time and helps reduce your monthly electricity cost.

Tesla Powerwall is a state of the art battery system for residential and light commercial applications. It enables the storage of energy from the grid or renewable sources, such as solar power, that can then be used at night. Powerwall can also provide backup power in case of a grid outage. Powerwall is a UL-listed assembly that consists of lithium-ion battery cells, an isolated┬áDC/DC┬áconvertor, and a liquid thermal management system. Powerwall is designed to interface with a compatible inverter. The battery cells inside Powerwall are the components closest to being a convential “battery”; however, the installer or user is never exposed to these cells since they are electrically and physically isolated from personnel contact.

Tesla’s battery architecture consists of a low voltage battery with an isolated DC/DC converter that provides a 350/450V DC output. This architecture provides several advantages, including the inherent safety advantages of a low voltage battery, lower currents, and smaller conductor sizes that make installation much easier than a battery with low voltage DC output. A 350-450V DC bus must be approached with care and safety, as it still presents a shock hazard. However Powerwall is not a high voltage battery.

Since the product launch in 2015, Tesla has successfully installed hundreds of Powerwalls across the United States, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and greater Europe, with a continually growing global installation market base.
